Anyone care to guess who said this?<\/p>\n

As Commander-in-Chief, I take pleasure in commending the reading of the Bible to all who serve in the armed forces of the United States. Throughout the centuries, men of many faiths and diverse origins have found in the Sacred Book words of wisdom, counsel, and inspiration. It is a fountain of strength, and now, as always, an aid in attaining the highest aspirations of the human soul.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

An internet search will give it away, but it could make for an interesting exercise.\u00a0\u00a0If you need a clue, he wasn’t a Republican, and he wasn’t a Founding Father.<\/p>\n

Given the way certain people are demanding the military treat the Bible currently, it seems like this President of the United States would have been crucified had he made this statement today — especially since he wrote it in the front of New Testaments\u00a0produced for, and distributed to, the US military.<\/p>\n

That would just goad Michael Weinstein’s goat, wouldn’t it?<\/p>\n
