Despite claims<\/a> that religious groups get favored or undue\u00a0access to US military installations, the US military hosts many <\/em>more non-religious events to support its troops.\u00a0 Fort Carson recently hosted the Lt Dan Band<\/a>, led by Gary Sinise, which seemed to be well-attended despite the inclement weather:\u00a0 <\/p>\n

It didn’t take long before the band had the audience dancing and singing along to covers of Adele, Rascal Flatts, Kelly Clarkson and Earth, Wind and Fire.

\nMaj. Gen. Joseph Anderson, commanding general, 4th Inf. Div. and Fort Carson, took the stage as the group played Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Of course, someone will likely point out that Gary Sinise — who was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal by President George W. Bush in 2008\u00a0— is Roman Catholic.\u00a0 Still, the concert wasn’t religious in any form, and it also wasn’t antagonistic or anti-theistic.<\/p>\n

In fact, the Lt Dan Band concluded the concert with “Proud to be an American,” which you probably won’t hear played<\/a> at Rock Beyond Belief<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
