{"id":17866,"date":"2012-05-23T01:00:17","date_gmt":"2012-05-23T04:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=17866"},"modified":"2012-05-23T23:15:41","modified_gmt":"2012-05-24T02:15:41","slug":"military-atheists-target-support-for-wounded-warriors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/05\/23\/military-atheists-target-support-for-wounded-warriors\/","title":{"rendered":"Military Atheists Target Support for Wounded Warriors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In his zeal to attack all things Christian in the military, Justin Griffith &#8212; the Army Sergeant made famous by his organization of <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/04\/02\/fort-bragg-hosts-uneventful-atheist-festival\/\">Rock Beyond Belief<\/a> at Fort Bragg &#8212; once <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/05\/02\/military-atheists-harass-families-of-deployed-soldiers\/\">harassed the wives of deployed Fort Bragg soldiers<\/a>.\u00a0 Even when he realized he&#8217;d made an error &#8212; he&#8217;d thought he was criticizing the soldiers themselves, as if that&#8217;s better &#8212; he never publicly apologized.<\/p>\n<p>Now, it seems he&#8217;s after the support provided to wounded warriors.\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Griffith recently announced a second atheist event would be held at Camp Pendleton &#8212; apparently only because <a href=\"http:\/\/freethoughtblogs.com\/rockbeyondbelief\/2012\/05\/20\/pz-does-it\/\">the Christian hordes were invading<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It\u2019s like Harold Camping has taken over a military base, one unit at a time&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">HLMA prayer breakfast event on 5 May 2012.<br \/>\n1st Intel Battalion event on 13 April 2012.<br \/>\nChristian concert feat. headliner MercyMe on Edson Range on 26 June 2011.<\/p>\n<p>We feel that no organizations (atheist included) should have festivals and events on this scale&#8230;Nobody else ever asks for massive support. It\u2019s always the evangelicals&#8230;So they get away with murder&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>To be clear, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.armoroflightcc.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=frontpage&amp;Itemid=1\">local church outreach<\/a>\u00a0providing free support to troops is evangelicals getting away with murder?\u00a0 Someone has a complex.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s take a look at that.\u00a0 How about that MercyMe concert in 2011?\u00a0 The atheists would have you believe it was a secret attempt by Christians to take over the world, so naturally the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dvidshub.net\/news\/73363\/christian-band-rocks-wounded-warriors\">DoD put out a press release about it<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Weapons and Field Training Battalion hosted a dinner and concert for the Wounded Warriors Battalion at Edson Range here&#8230;The event&#8230;was funded by the Armor of Light Baptist Church to show appreciation to the wounded warriors and lift their spirits with music.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis [event] gives the Wounded Warriors Battalion, families of the command and recruits the opportunity to relax and reflect,\u201d said Col. Christopher Dowling, commanding officer, WFTBn.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The military atheists are objecting to a free concert for wounded warriors, apparently for no other reason than it was Christian.\u00a0 The wounded warriors seemed to like it:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cEvents like this make you realize you\u2019re not the only Christian in the Marine Corps, and gives us a chance to bond with fellow wounded warriors,\u201d said Cpl. Logan Stovall, WWBn. patient. \u201cThis brings up morale and makes you feel good.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If Justin Griffith had his way, wounded Marine Cpl Stovall wouldn&#8217;t be <em>allowed<\/em> to have his morale raised by a band such as <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/09\/military-divorce-rate-highest-ever-mercyme-teams-with-familylife\/\">MercyMe<\/a>.\u00a0 That&#8217;s pretty cold, even for the same military atheists who harassed the wives of troops deployed to Afghanistan not long ago.\u00a0 They&#8217;re staying classy and supporting the troops&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Griffith and his supporters had indicated there wouldn&#8217;t be a second concert &#8212; because there was no Christian event to which to respond.\u00a0 Only after a local Marine complained about the Christian church&#8217;s events at Camp Pendleton did Griffith indicate a Rock Beyond Belief 2 was in the works.\u00a0 (Notably, they&#8217;re announcing and scheduling\u00a0the event <em>long <\/em>before it has been approved.)<\/p>\n<p>In other words, military atheists have validated the belief that atheists have <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/12\/liberty-protected-the-non-persecution-of-military-atheists\/\">no independent thought<\/a>:\u00a0 they freely admit they are nothing more than a <em>response <\/em>to religion.\u00a0 They are merely an asterisk on Christianity.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, they&#8217;ve even admitted their objective isn&#8217;t to celebrate their own beliefs &#8212; its to make Christian events so politically unpalatable no one will touch them.\u00a0 They&#8217;re not fighting <em>for <\/em>their own freedom; they&#8217;re fighting <em>against <\/em>the freedoms of Christians in the military, even if they&#8217;re spouses of deployed soldiers or troops trying to recover from their combat wounds.<\/p>\n<p>Rock Beyond Belief at Fort Bragg was met by a collective shrug by most of the Christian community (judging by the small attendance, it was shrugged off by most\u00a0atheists as well).\u00a0 While it was criticized for some of its content, no mainstream group or critic called for it to be canceled.\u00a0 Perhaps the US military can look forward to the day Justin Griffith and other military atheists likewise let Christian concerts occur without manufacturing a scandalous affair and trying to ban them.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that the US military hosts far <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/02\/29\/military-bases-quietly-host-secular-events\/\">more secular concerts<\/a> and related events than ones by &#8220;spiritual&#8221; groups seems to escape Griffith (unless he&#8217;s going to claim <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kidrock.com\/news\/kid-rock-gives-military-free-concert-media-boot\">Kid Rock<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dvidshub.net\/news\/84031\/lt-dan-band-rocks-mcbh\">Lt Dan Band<\/a>,\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/07\/13\/fort-hood-freedom-fest-headliner-offends\/\">Cherry Poppin&#8217; Daddies<\/a>, and\u00a0the host of other\u00a0concerts and events on military facilities\u00a0are <em>all <\/em>Christian).\u00a0 Griffith doesn&#8217;t really think <em>no<\/em> organizations should be able to have &#8220;events of this scale,&#8221; otherwise he&#8217;d have a lot more events to take on.\u00a0 He just doesn&#8217;t want <em>religious<\/em> groups to be able to provide support for the troops.<\/p>\n<p>It just wouldn&#8217;t do for the military atheists to allow their fellow troops to celebrate their religious beliefs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In his zeal to attack all things Christian in the military, Justin Griffith &#8212;
