Why wouldn&#8217;t we? We didn&#8217;t do it on purpose but we should apologize and we did.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Interestingly, when the US military burned the central word of God for Christians, <em>on purpose<\/em>, it didn&#8217;t apologize.\u00a0 In fact, it\u00a0defended the need to put the Bibles in the trash.\u00a0 Why wouldn&#8217;t we apologize?\u00a0 Good question.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, other reports indicate all US troops have been given &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/middle-east\/afghanistan\/us-military-struggles-to-teach-troops-to-respect-quran-1.170971\">mandatory refresher training<\/a>&#8221; on handling Korans.\u00a0 Few <!--more-->reports seem to note a key point of the briefing, which is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.answeringmuslims.com\/2012\/03\/us-department-of-defense-unveils-new.html\">publicly available<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>You will likely not be able to read the highly decorative script in Arabic.\u00a0 Use your interpreter to identify Qurans or Quranic verses.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In other words, troops are required to handle Quran with care &#8212; even though the military acknowledges they probably can&#8217;t even tell whether something is a Koran or not.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Commander of US and coalition troops in Afghanistan, General John Allen, gave an interview to ABCNews in which he &#8220;dismissed criticism&#8221; over the profuse American apologies over the Koran burning in Afghanistan. &#8220;Why wouldn&#8217;t we [apologize]?&#8221; the general asked. &#8220;This is the central word of God for them.
