Jesse Hills&#8230;was the project manager for the refurbishment. He was responsible for finding out what exactly was needed to repair the mosque: the time and resources <!--more-->needed to complete the refurbishment, figuring out the costs, and awarding the contract to an Afghan company.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/08\/20\/taxpayer-money-promoting-islam-worldwide\/\">not the first time<\/a> the US military has helped build mosques in Iraq and <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/07\/23\/beyond-hearts-and-minds-us-military-and-islam-in-afghanistan\/\">Afghanistan<\/a>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been a practice <a href=\"http:\/\/thepatriotperspective.wordpress.com\/2012\/03\/01\/us-taxpayers-subsidize-overseas-mosques-and-maybe-terrorism\/\">for years<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Weinstein and his Military &#8220;Religious Freedom&#8221; Foundation <a href=\"http:\/\/www.truth-out.org\/burning-korans-afghanistan\/1330711430\">remain convinced<\/a> the US military has a &#8220;culture of religious bigotry&#8230;fueled by militant, unchecked Christian fundamentalism.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s unclear what kind of bigotry or Christian fundamentalism would be using US government funds, personnel, and <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2009\/07\/17\/us-army-promotes-religion-in-afghanistan\/\">resources<\/a> to build mosques in Islamic countries (while not doing the same for <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/01\/20\/soldiers-work-to-repair-ancient-church\/\">churches there<\/a>), but Weinstein and his conspiracy-believing cohorts Chris Rodda and Rick Baker probably have a ready reply.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A rebuilt mosque in Afghanistan is now the &#8220;centerpiece of the local government&#8221; &#8212; with the aid of the US Marines.
