Again."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Barry Noreen of the <em>Colorado Springs Gazette<\/em>, local to the US Air Force Academy, wrote on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gazette.com\/news\/first-134463-awareness-trying.html\">&#8220;diversity awareness&#8221; at the US Air Force Academy<\/a> &#8212; and managed to explain how Michael Weinstein has been a <em>detriment <\/em>to that cause.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Under a constant barrage by the likes of Mikey Weinstein&#8230;the academy has been under a microscope. Scrutiny isn\u2019t bad, but Weinstein\u2019s vitriol has been counterproductive.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8220;I find this institution shell-shocked at having any kind of discussion of religion,&#8221; [Chaplain (Col) Robert] Bruno said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Rather than help USAFA generate a climate of religious freedom, Weinstein&#8217;s public attacks on Christian exercise at the US Air Force Academy have done the <em>opposite<\/em>.\u00a0 Noreen <!--more-->notes the &#8220;walking on egg shells&#8221; environment Weinstein has engendered at USAFA is counter to what an academic institution should encourage.<\/p>\n<p>The last time the Gazette criticized Weinstein, they were <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/02\/11\/weinstein-threatens-legal-action-against-gazette\/\">threatened with legal action<\/a>.\u00a0 (Though a perennial critic himself, Weinstein apparently has a sensitive disposition&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Noreen&#8217;s article opens with an astute observation of the changed sensitivity to religion in public life and the military:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Cadet Chapel is arguably the most identifiable structure at the Air Force Academy, but if the institution was being built today for the first time, that probably wouldn\u2019t be the case.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Interestingly, what was once considered an integral part of American culture is now just as likely to be considered offensive.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Barry Noreen of the Colorado Springs Gazette, local to the US Air Force Academy, wrote on &#8220;diversity awareness&#8221; at the US Air Force Academy &#8212; and managed to explain how Michael Weinstein has been a detriment to that cause.
