{"id":15986,"date":"2012-02-07T02:00:44","date_gmt":"2012-02-07T05:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=15986"},"modified":"2012-02-06T23:09:01","modified_gmt":"2012-02-07T02:09:01","slug":"rock-beyond-belief-drops-atheist-anthem-from-website","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/02\/07\/rock-beyond-belief-drops-atheist-anthem-from-website\/","title":{"rendered":"Rock Beyond Belief Drops &#8220;Atheist Anthem&#8221; from Website"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In what appears to be a site-wide revamping, Rock Beyond Belief &#8212; the atheist counter-event to the Christian Rock the Fort &#8212; has dropped the controversial <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/25\/fort-bragg-to-host-anti-religion-band-at-atheist-rock-beyond-belief\/\">Aiden song<\/a>\u00a0that recently caused a <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/30\/fort-bragg-reviewing-atheist-rock-beyond-belief-lineup\/\">media firestorm<\/a>\u00a0from its <a href=\"http:\/\/rockbeyondbelief.com\/\">website<\/a>.\u00a0 The YouTube video was originally called an &#8220;atheist anthem&#8221; and was the only introduction to the band on the site, though after FoxNews highlighted it organizer Justin Griffith said they would not be performing that particular song.<\/p>\n<p>Also absent is the plea for civilians (&#8220;as many people as possible&#8221;) to come to the event.\u00a0 A recent article quoted Justin Griffith saying he &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/magazine-16859421\">counts about 100<\/a>&#8221; atheists at Fort Bragg, meaning he is likely relying on the event to draw far more civilians than members of the military.\u00a0 For a rough comparison, the Fort Bragg chapels host about 2,000 congregants in 17 services every week (both Christian and not); the Christian Rock the Fort had an estimated attendance\u00a0of 3-4,000.<\/p>\n<p>In another interesting twist, a revealing but obscure comment was made by a pseudonymed military officer presenting himself as part of Rock Beyond Belief <!--more-->[emphasis added]:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It is important to point out that all performers at RBB and the event\u2019s organizers are upholding a \u201cradio-friendly\u201d standard to ensure that this event is family friendly. <strong><em>In accordance with Army regulations that have applied to previous Christian events, no faith practice will be demeaned<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This marks the first time anyone supporting the event has addressed the issue raised here: Namely, that Rock the Fort <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/25\/atheist-rock-beyond-belief-books-its-own-franklin-grahams\/\">was restricted in its content<\/a>, and, to be equal, Rock Beyond Belief must be also.
