{"id":15048,"date":"2011-12-30T01:43:56","date_gmt":"2011-12-30T04:43:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=15048"},"modified":"2011-12-30T01:43:56","modified_gmt":"2011-12-30T04:43:56","slug":"f-18-crash-victims-family-to-receive-17-8m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/30\/f-18-crash-victims-family-to-receive-17-8m\/","title":{"rendered":"F-18 Crash Victims&#8217; Family to Receive $17.8M"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>US District Judge Jeffrey Miller <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/news\/2011\/12\/ap-marine-san-diego-crash-judge-rules-family-due-122811\/\">ruled the surviving members<\/a> of a family killed by an F\/A-18 crash in San Diego were to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.military.com\/news\/article\/us-to-pay-family-17-8m-for-fatal-jet-crash.html\">receive $17.8 million<\/a> from the US government.\u00a0 They had <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/07\/30\/marines-boeing-sued-over-2008-hornet-crash\/\">sued<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/22\/family-relatives-sue-for-56m-in-f-18-crash\/\">sought $56 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Don Yoon lost his 36-year-old wife, Youngmi Lee Yoon; his 15-month-old daughter, Grace; his 2-month-old daughter, Rachel; and <!--more-->his 59-year-old mother-in-law, Seokim Kim Lee, who was visiting from Korea to help her eldest daughter take care of their children&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our family is relieved this part of the process is over, but no sum of money will ever make up for the loss of our loved ones,&#8221; he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yoon still said he didn&#8217;t hold the pilot, who ejected, responsible:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Yoon said he harbors no ill will toward the Marine pilot &#8220;who did everything he could to prevent this tragedy,&#8221; but added that his family believes &#8220;that misguided attempts by the military to save money and cut costs&#8221; contributed to the crash.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>US District Judge Jeffrey Miller ruled the surviving members of a family killed by an F\/A-18 crash in San Diego were to receive $17.8 million from the US government.\u00a0 They had sued and sought $56 million.
