{"id":14643,"date":"2012-01-12T01:00:39","date_gmt":"2012-01-12T04:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=14643"},"modified":"2013-10-27T23:05:15","modified_gmt":"2013-10-28T02:05:15","slug":"the-public-education-of-homosexuality-and-society","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/12\/the-public-education-of-homosexuality-and-society\/","title":{"rendered":"The Public Education of Homosexuality, and Society"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A CNN blog notes the new for 2012 California law that <a href=\"http:\/\/inamerica.blogs.cnn.com\/2011\/12\/10\/lgbt-curriculum-already-in-place-in-some-california-classrooms-as-state-mandate-looms\/\">requires public schools to teach<\/a> about people who have specific sexual (homosexual) lifestyles:<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;California Fair Education Act&#8221; requires that schools teach<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender history and social science curricula.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The law also specifically <em>bans <\/em>topics that &#8220;adversely reflect&#8221; on <!--more-->a person&#8217;s sexual preference.\u00a0 (It also requires instruction on Native Americans and people with disabilities.)<\/p>\n<p>Toward the end of the blog, New York University history and education Professor Jonathan Zimmerman is cited as saying the school system needs to go beyond merely &#8220;celebrating&#8221; people&#8217;s sexual preference:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Schools must be careful not to just celebrate the group &#8211; they need to address tough questions and do some hard thinking.
