{"id":14602,"date":"2011-12-22T02:12:42","date_gmt":"2011-12-22T05:12:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=14602"},"modified":"2015-06-27T19:14:18","modified_gmt":"2015-06-27T22:14:18","slug":"perkins-king-sound-warning-on-hostility-toward-christianity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/22\/perkins-king-sound-warning-on-hostility-toward-christianity\/","title":{"rendered":"Perkins, King Sound Warning on Hostility Toward Christianity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Joining the theme of Rick Perry&#8217;s statements that <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/08\/new-rick-perry-ad-vows-end-to-obamas-war-on-religion\/\">President Obama had a &#8220;war on religion,&#8221;<\/a> Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council called the Obama administration &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/news\/bible-ban-at-walter-reed-military-hospital-dropped-64545\/\">hostile to Christianity<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;You can&#8217;t judge what&#8217;s in somebody&#8217;s heart or their administration, but you can judge them by the fruits of their labors,&#8221; Perkins said. &#8220;The fruit of this administration shows it is hostile to Christianity.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He was referring to the Walter Reed policy <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/08\/walter-reed-issues-statement-on-bible-ban\/\">banning religious items (specifically, Bibles)<\/a> within the US military medical facility.\u00a0 By contrast, the <em>Washington Times <\/em>noted the government goes the extra mile to make sure <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2011\/dec\/9\/remember-whom-we-are-fighting\/\">detainees at Guantanamo have access to the Koran<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We shouldn\u2019t really be surprised when a bureaucrat tries to bar Bibles in a U.S. military stateside hospital while other bureaucrats make sure terrorists in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, get copies of the Koran.<\/p>\n<p>You almost have to feel sorry <!--more-->for poor Col. [C.W] Callahan, [Walter Reed\u2019s Chief of Staff,] who is part of the new metrosexual military, which values \u201cdiversity\u201d more than combat readiness, so long as it doesn\u2019t include Christianity.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On the same topic, US Representative Steve King (R-IA) implied the necessity of a proactive, rather than a passive, response to those who would restrict religious freedom (or attack Christianity) in the military:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>King said that the only way to prevent future attacks on American freedoms was to reverse the process in the first place&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Any time we weigh in on the side of goodness, faith and justice, we make the world a better place,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The greater the objection is, the less likely they are to make another try.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Further, he said an offense, not just a defense, may be required:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Whatever kind of militant atheist-ism [<em>sic<\/em>] might bring about a rule like this, it isn&#8217;t good enough just to stop the rule,&#8221; he states. &#8220;It&#8217;s also important that we move back into the affirmative.
