{"id":14394,"date":"2012-01-02T11:23:48","date_gmt":"2012-01-02T14:23:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=14394"},"modified":"2012-01-02T11:23:48","modified_gmt":"2012-01-02T14:23:48","slug":"air-force-researched-for-new-disney-movie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/02\/air-force-researched-for-new-disney-movie\/","title":{"rendered":"Air Force Researched for New Disney Movie?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last November Edwards Air Force Base <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/14\/disney-fighter-pilot-movie-in-the-works\/\">hosted animators from Disney studios<\/a>.\u00a0 The animators were on a research expedition\u00a0involving aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>When <em>Cars 2<\/em> came out, it led with a trailer for the new 2013\u00a0Disney movie <em>Planes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Think the visit to Edwards was related?<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/oLyTzIslEQk\"><em>Planes <\/em>trailer<\/a> makes references to <!--more-->&#8220;40,000 pounds of thrust&#8221; and &#8220;low observable stealth technology,&#8221; both of which are probably\u00a0common vocabulary now.\u00a0 But it also makes a reference to an &#8220;auto ground collision avoidance system,&#8221; an obscure and non-stereotypical reference that, interestingly enough, was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/centers\/dryden\/research\/ACAT_FRRP\/index.html\">researched by NASA-Dryden at Edwards AFB<\/a>, and completed just prior to the animators&#8217; visit.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the feature is a Disney\/DisneyToon Studio\u00a0production (Pixar is nowhere mentioned) and is going straight to video.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last November Edwards Air Force Base hosted animators from Disney studios.\u00a0 The animators were on a research expedition\u00a0involving aircraft.
