{"id":143,"date":"2008-01-01T10:38:39","date_gmt":"2008-01-01T14:38:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=143"},"modified":"2011-02-26T00:55:02","modified_gmt":"2011-02-26T05:55:02","slug":"the-new-year-challenges-ahead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2008\/01\/01\/the-new-year-challenges-ahead\/","title":{"rendered":"The New Year &#038; Challenges Ahead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Happy New Year<\/strong> from ChristianFighterPilot.com.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Each year is a unique challenge to a military Christian.\u00a0 Deployment schedules vary, family situations change, new faith challenges arise, and the\u00a0rules on\u00a0religious practice and expression\u00a0in the military change.\u00a0 ChristianFighterPilot.com has attempted to remain a viable and valuable resource for information as varied as &#8220;how to become a fighter pilot&#8221; and &#8220;military Christians and &#8216;church\/state separation.'&#8221;\u00a0 Many people have contacted CFP; some were like-minded active duty military, some were ROTC cadets wanting to know how to secure a pilot&#8217;s slot, and some were high school students wanting to understand the relationship between Christ and the military profession.\u00a0 Chaplains, Army soldiers in Iraq, and even atheists and opponents to religion in the military have corresponded with and commented on the site.\u00a0 Though small, the presence and ministry of\u00a0ChristianFighterPilot.com is being felt.<\/p>\n<p>As always, ChristianFighterPilot.com seeks to improve and expand.\u00a0 If you would like to contribute content or\u00a0commentary,\u00a0or if you have suggestions for the site or ministry, please feel free to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianfighterpilot.com\/contact2.htm\">contact<\/a>\u00a0CFP, either through the form or email.\u00a0 If you know of others who may be interested in the newsletter, site, or topics, please let them know about the website or forward the newsletter to them.<\/p>\n<p>Each new year brings the traditional resolutions and, regrettably,\u00a0a new wave of controversies.\u00a0\u00a0Weinstein&#8217;s lawsuit <!--more-->and recent accusations against Campus Crusade (previous posts <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=141\">1<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=147\">2<\/a>) are the latest,\u00a0but they will certainly not be the last.\u00a0 Military Christians should live their lives for Christ, mentor others in faith, and support each other&#8217;s spiritual growth.\u00a0 They should also stay informed as to the\u00a0current events surrounding their Christianity and their profession.\u00a0\u00a0When necessary, Christians should be prepared to speak or act intelligently in defense of their faith&#8211;whether that be to correct a fellow believer in the appropriate conduct\u00a0of a military Christian (whether professionally or spiritually), or to respond to those who would incorrectly attempt to restrict religious freedoms in the military.<\/p>\n<p>Focus on the Family Action recently published a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.citizenlink.org\/CLtopstories\/A000006180.cfm\">list<\/a> of the &#8220;Top Ten Attacks on Faith, Family and Freedom,&#8221; in which they said<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We say we want to influence the culture for Christ&#8230;and our Constitution guarantees us the rights to do so.
