{"id":13712,"date":"2011-10-28T02:15:31","date_gmt":"2011-10-28T07:15:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=13712"},"modified":"2011-10-28T02:15:31","modified_gmt":"2011-10-28T07:15:31","slug":"us-army-general-rhonda-cornum-leads-embodies-resilience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/10\/28\/us-army-general-rhonda-cornum-leads-embodies-resilience\/","title":{"rendered":"US Army General Rhonda Cornum Leads, Embodies Resilience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>US Army <a href=\"http:\/\/csf.army.mil\/bgcornum.html\">BrigGen Rhonda Cornum<\/a> is the director of the Army&#8217;s Comprehensive Soldier Fitness program.\u00a0 She also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dvidshub.net\/news\/78804\/generals-life-embodies-resiliency-optimism\">embodies the values<\/a> of her own program:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The CSF program focuses on the ability to bounce back from stress or trauma, something she utilized after her experience in the Gulf War&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Cornum flew over the Iraqi desert with her crew in a Black Hawk helicopter Feb. 27, during the fourth day of the U.S. ground assault&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Her crew was responding to the downing of F-16 pilot Capt Bill Andrews, who was shot down over Iraq.\u00a0 Their helicopter took fire before getting there and crashed.\u00a0 Five of her crewmates were killed; she was wounded and taken <!--more-->prisoner.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;If I had not been an optimistic person, I would have given up,&#8221; said Cornum&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I knew being a prisoner would be hard, but it was better than being dead,&#8221; said Cornum&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>She never wept or lost faith while alone and locked in her room, but instead did what she likes to do when she gets the chance to be alone: sing.
