{"id":13032,"date":"2011-09-06T02:00:03","date_gmt":"2011-09-06T07:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=13032"},"modified":"2013-10-14T16:46:15","modified_gmt":"2013-10-14T19:46:15","slug":"dadt-choi-on-trial-homosexual-magazine-debuts-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/09\/06\/dadt-choi-on-trial-homosexual-magazine-debuts-and-more\/","title":{"rendered":"DADT: Choi on Trial, Homosexual Magazine Debuts, and More"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Noted below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Former Army Lt Dan Choi on trial for White House protest<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;OutSource&#8221; homosexual magazine to debut at military posts<\/li>\n<li>Homosexual Soldier says heterosexual married guys get picked on more<\/li>\n<li>NYT highlights homosexuals attempting to re-enlist<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Former Army Lieutenant <strong>Dan Choi<\/strong>, an outspoken advocate for open service by homosexuals in the US military, is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/2011\/08\/ap-gay-former-soldier-trial-protest-082911\/\">fighting federal charges<\/a> for handcuffing himself to the White House perimeter fence, the third similar incident.<\/p>\n<p>Choi&#8217;s attorney argued he is being treated different because of the substance of his protest.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Choi\u2019s attorney Robert Feldman said&#8230;people arrested for protesting at the White House are usually charged in local court where the penalty for disobeying a police order is a fine of between $100 and $1,000. But Choi was charged in federal court, where he faces both a fine and jail time of up to six months.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The article notes, even if Feldman doesn&#8217;t, that the 12 other people arrested with Choi were treated the same way, and they have already pled guilty in the federal court.<\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press photo accompanying the article shows Choi in uniform, though as a former servicemember he would not be authorized to wear the uniform under these circumstances. Choi has repeatedly <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/21\/choi-to-rejoin-military-despite-mental-political-issues\/\">worn the US Army uniform in his political protests<\/a> as a civilian.<\/p>\n<p>The presiding judge &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/2011\/08\/ap-judge-puts-trial-of-gay-fomer-soldier-on-hold-083111\/\">put his trial on hold<\/a>,&#8221; apparently indicating Choi may actually have shown he was being treated uniquely.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>OutSource (the <strong>magazine of homosexual advocacy organization <\/strong>OutServe) will be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/news\/gay-military-magazine-debuts-on-same-day-dadt-is-lifted-54923\/\">available on US military bases<\/a> on September 20th, the same day the repeal of the policy most often known as &#8220;Don&#8217;t Ask, Don&#8217;t Tell&#8221; goes into effect.\u00a0 It will <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/2011\/08\/31\/new-gay-military-magazine-headed-for-base-newsstands\/\">apparently be free<\/a>.\u00a0 The group OutServe reportedly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/blogs\/stripes-central\/stripes-central-1.8040\/gay-military-magazine-to-land-at-army-af-bases-1.153685\">has 4,000 members<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Some military members\u00a0are &#8220;struggling&#8221; with the <strong>decision to tell their peers about their homosexuality<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0One servicemember noted it&#8217;s not really that big of a deal anymore.\u00a0 Heterosexual married guys are getting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/end-of-dadt-means-decision-time-for-gay-troops-1.153688\">&#8220;picked on&#8221; more than homosexuals<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;You still have guys teasing other guys for acting \u2018gay\u2019 once in a while, but the straight married guys are the ones getting picked on the most.
