The US Navy got a lot of grief for posting a list of “Sexual Assault Prevention Tips” on its Facebook page<\/a> that was derided at different times as uncouth, offensive, and “dumb.”<\/p>\n

Navy spokesman Lt. Alana Garas told Fox News that the Navy post should have included more context from the start.

\n“The intention of posting this poster was to encourage discussion on a serious issue,” Garas said. “It is a crime that will not be tolerated … and the Navy will continue to explore ways to reach our sailors on this serious issue.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Eventually people realized the “poster” wasn’t the work of the Navy, but of a feminist blog (which actually only created the poster, not the text, which was the source of another <\/em>feminist blog…).\u00a0 FoxNews noticed<\/a> the blog the Navy credited went out of its way to deride Christianity:<\/p>\n

Christianity is inherently and undeniably sexist among countless other things…<\/p>\n

While it may be interpreted many ways many passages are clearly statements of hatred, fear and contempt towards women…<\/p>\n

If you don\u2019t think it\u2019s fair to be compaired [sic<\/em>] to the KKK as a Christian or a Catholic- I\u2019d like to remind you Christian faith is responsible directly for the 15th century genocide of Africans and other \u2018dark skinned devils\u2019, the inquisition, mass murders of Indians- estimated 150 million…the purposeful spreading of diseases and slavery…

\n[W]hile you may not have been [in Rwanda] murdering and raping yourselves you support the movement behind it and countless other genocides and tragedies…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And it goes on.\u00a0 Pretty poor form, in the end.\u00a0 Spokesmen for the Navy have already said the post could have been communicated better<\/a>, and someone in Navy Public Affairs has probably had a rough day or two.\u00a0 At least it achieved one objective:\u00a0 It certainly sparked discussion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
