{"id":11669,"date":"2011-06-29T01:05:55","date_gmt":"2011-06-29T06:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=11669"},"modified":"2013-10-09T00:06:10","modified_gmt":"2013-10-09T03:06:10","slug":"more-airmen-request-dadt-discharges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/29\/more-airmen-request-dadt-discharges\/","title":{"rendered":"More Airmen Request DADT Discharges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stripes.com\/news\/special-reports\/don-t-ask-don-t-tell\/three-gay-airmen-request-discharge-before-don-t-ask-don-t-tell-ends-1.147626\">Stars and Stripes<\/a><\/em>, three more members of the US Air Force have requested discharge due to their homosexuality:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>According to the Air Force, during the past month two female staff sergeants and a male 2nd lieutenant made statements identifying themselves as gay and asked to be separated quickly from the service.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While these discharges were once non-events, they are now front page news because of their rarity and the fact the Secretary of the Air Force has to approve them.<\/p>\n<p>As with <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/03\/airman-discharged-under-dadt-groups-protest-but\/\">the other recent case<\/a>, the article indicates these Airmen <em>wanted <\/em>to be discharged, and to be discharged quickly, before the repeal of DADT.\u00a0 While homosexual advocacy groups have made much of the &#8220;victimization&#8221; <!--more-->of homosexuals in the military and the &#8220;lost skills&#8221; due to this &#8220;discrimination,&#8221; one statistic never tracked until now was how many of those people claiming to be homosexual <em>wanted <\/em>to be discharged.<\/p>\n<p>The only relevant statistic released to date has been that 25% of all DADT discharges occurred within the first 120 days of entering the service &#8212; which lends some weight to the anecdotal evidence some people claimed to be gay just to get out of the military (because there is no other way to &#8220;quit&#8221; basic training).\u00a0 It seems even some <a href=\"http:\/\/ap.stripes.com\/dynamic\/stories\/U\/US_GAYS_IN_MILITARY\">homosexual advocates see<\/a>\u00a0other motives:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In a statement issued Monday, Alexander Nicholson, executive director of Servicemembers United, said it is shocking to see incidents of people &#8220;trying to force the Pentagon to let them out of the service obligation&#8221; because the law is still on the books.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As an aside, the <em>Stripes <\/em>included a picture of Dan Choi with their article.\u00a0 Choi was discharged under DADT but has continued to <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/21\/choi-to-rejoin-military-despite-mental-political-issues\/\">wear his former uniform at political protests<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to the Stars and Stripes, three more members of the US Air Force have requested discharge due to their homosexuality: According to the Air Force, during the past month two female staff sergeants and a male 2nd lieutenant made statements identifying themselves as gay and asked to be separated quickly from the service.
