{"id":11157,"date":"2011-05-16T02:00:06","date_gmt":"2011-05-16T07:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=11157"},"modified":"2012-03-15T23:22:55","modified_gmt":"2012-03-16T02:22:55","slug":"military-atheist-festival-at-fort-bragg-gets-funded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/05\/16\/military-atheist-festival-at-fort-bragg-gets-funded\/","title":{"rendered":"Military Atheist Festival at Fort Bragg Gets Funded"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Rock Beyond Belief,&#8221; the <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/05\/fort-bragg-atheist-concert-reverses-course-re-announces-event\/\">atheist counter-event<\/a> to the Billy Graham Evangelical Association&#8217;s &#8220;Rock the Fort,&#8221; has apparently managed to obtain sufficient funding to proceed.\u00a0 Prior statements seemed to indicate RBB would not back down from its &#8220;demand&#8221; that Fort Bragg give it money (even as the manufactured controversy &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/05\/fort-bragg-atheist-concert-reverses-course-re-announces-event\/\">increased [their] funding<\/a>&#8220;).\u00a0 This continued\u00a0even after Fort Bragg pointed out &#8220;Rock the Fort&#8221; was <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/09\/rock-beyond-belief-the-truth-comes-out\/\">funded from the Christian collection plate<\/a>, not by the US military.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Apparently unable to solicit enough general interest from like-minded atheists,\u00a0<!--more-->extraordinarily wealthy &#8220;freethinker&#8221;\u00a0Todd Stiefel\u00a0has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stiefelfreethoughtfoundation.org\/achievements.html\">stepped up to provide $50,000<\/a>.\u00a0 Even that otherwise &#8220;positive&#8221; announcement\u00a0continued the theme of\u00a0attacking the US military:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[The Stiefel Freethought Foundation] has pledged $50,000 to support the Rock Beyond Belief secular festival at Ft. Bragg. Due to discrimination by the U.S. Military against our event and in favor of Evangelical Christian events, RBB is currently cancelled pending litigation [<em>sic<\/em>].
