{"id":10824,"date":"2011-04-19T02:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-04-19T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/?p=10824"},"modified":"2011-04-18T22:51:08","modified_gmt":"2011-04-19T03:51:08","slug":"all-female-flight-female-flight-suits-and-female-fighter-pilots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/19\/all-female-flight-female-flight-suits-and-female-fighter-pilots\/","title":{"rendered":"All-Female Flight, Female Flight Suits, and Female Fighter Pilots"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the <em>Air Force Times<\/em>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/05\/fighter-pilots-fly-all-female-combat-mission\/\">all-female F-15E <em>Strike Eagle <\/em>combat flight<\/a> orchestrated as part of Women&#8217;s History Month &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/news\/2011\/04\/air-force-womens-groundbreaking-flight-sparks-debate-041611w\/\">spark[ed] debate<\/a>&#8221; over the issue of <a href=\"http:\/\/christianfighterpilot.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/30\/women-in-the-military-statistics-and-the-first-female-jfacc\/\">women in combat<\/a>.\u00a0 The article is largely composed of reader inputs to the <em>Times&#8217; <\/em>calls for comment.\u00a0 Most of the comments support lifting restrictions, and most (including women)\u00a0also say the standards should be the same for men and women.<\/p>\n<p>The ironic part of that statement is men and women aren&#8217;t <em>currently <\/em>held to the same standard; for example, in every service women have different <!--more-->(lower) physical fitness requirements.\u00a0 Even the Marine Corps&#8217; much vaunted &#8220;combat fitness test&#8221; separates scores by gender, despite the claim its intent is to test physical fitness for what some would call a &#8220;gender neutral&#8221; combat environment.\u00a0 If the military doesn&#8217;t <em>currently <\/em>demand equal physical performance, why is there any reason to believe they would\u00a0do so should the combat ban be lifted?<\/p>\n<p>Another female commenter noted that it wasn&#8217;t &#8216;transparent&#8217; when she moved into a unit:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Bravo Company, they knew me, they didn\u2019t care. We were all grown-ups.
