Col. Ron Leininger and retired Lt. Col. Micheas Langston. Both expressed admiration for their television counterpart.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Father Mulcahy represented some of the very best qualities of the Vietnam-era and present-day Army chaplains&#8217; values,&#8221; <!--more-->Leininger said. &#8220;(He) was an approachable and calming presence in every environment we watched him in.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Langston said he admired the character&#8217;s &#8220;naive innocence, the simplicity of his dedication to God and the way he adapted his dedication to his surroundings.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Langston&#8230;admitted to identifying a bit with the Father Mulcahy character.
