Albert Mohler, Jr., is president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.\u00a0 He recently wrote an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/article\/20090904\/why-moralism-is-not-the-gospel-and-why-so-many-christians-think-it-is\/page2.html\">article entitled<\/a> &#8220;Why Moralism Is Not the Gospel &#8211; And Why So Many Christians Think It Is.&#8221;\u00a0 The article describes how many\u00a0Christians have lost touch with the heart of the Gospel by replacing it with pragmatic words to live by.\u00a0\u00a0While Dr. Mohler intended his words for a broad audience, it has some specific applicability here.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Much of the theological content of what is discussed here revolves around Christian living within the military.\u00a0 The reason is plainly stated on the home page:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This site is intended to provide the military Christian&#8230;with the information, resources, and support they need for living an active life of faith as a professional military officer.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Living an &#8220;active life of faith&#8221; includes the admonition that we should live a life worthy of the calling we have received.\u00a0 Living out that worthy life can be difficult when the pressures of the environment&#8211;especially a military or fighter pilot one&#8211;encourage one in the opposite manner.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, many of the articles on this site have addressed such basic life issues as profanity, ethics, and even basic paperwork.\u00a0 To some, it may seem a prescription to &#8220;live right&#8221; or even &#8220;righteously.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While an upstanding life is certainly a worthy pursuit, it is worth noting that <em>moralism<\/em>, or focusing on &#8220;right living,&#8221; is <em>not<\/em> the Gospel.\u00a0 Practical admonitions on this site are the result of it being a source of practical advice for daily Christian living, nothing more.\u00a0 They are not intended to be a prescription to replace the Gospel.<\/p>\n<p>There is one Name&#8211;not &#8220;one prescriptive moralism&#8221;&#8211;by which we are saved.<\/p>\n<p>Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about how to know Christ or daily living the Christian faith.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>R.
