USAFA, Cadets for Christ Victims of Weinstein’s Hypocrisy
Chris Rodda, research assistant for Michael Weinstein’s Military Religious Freedom Foundation, recently guest-posted the MRFF’s latest salvo against “Cadets for Christ,” an Air Force Academy Christian cadet group Weinstein wants banned. The self-described Research Director can’t even get basic facts correct.
The MRFF apparently has copies of emails sent from Don and Anna Warrick asking the recipients to send letters of support for Cadets for Christ to the Chaplains at USAFA. Christian Values, Civic Conduct, and Hate
Chuck Colson recently wrote Playing the Hate Card, in which he made a quick reference to a point often made here:
Foremost on my list [of things to be thankful for] was the freedom we as Americans still enjoy to practice our religion. This includes the right to promote laws and leaders who uphold our values. (emphasis added)
Again, Christians are not obligated to allow those whose values are in opposition to their own to prevail simply because Christians have a religious foundation. Even in a secular society, every citizen acts from their own moral foundation in their attempts to influence the social morality by promoting their own beliefs in the governance of society. The fact that one person’s foundation may be “religious” and another’s “religious” in another form does not negate the value of the position itself.

Choi to Rejoin Military Despite Mental, Political Issues
Former Army Lt Dan Choi announced in the Huffington Post that he intended to rejoin the military service now that DADT has been repealed. Homosexuality aside, Choi may have other issues to overcome before the military will let him in.

Rabbi Sues Army over Beard
As noted earlier this year, Rabbi Menachem Stern has been trying for some time to become a US military Chaplain, but has faced resistance over his orthodox appearance. He has apparently been unable to obtain a waiver for his beard.

Freedom, Democracy, and Morality in America
In light of recent comments on Christianity (or religion in general) and the role of morality in society, Andie Brownlow at the American Thinker has an interesting article entitled “American Freedom and Religious Morality:”
Liberals and conservatives both believe that as Americans, we should be moral people. The major difference is where their morality intersects with their politics. Obama: I Pray Everyday, Read Bible
The Hill notes that as part of a Barbara Walters interview, President Obama spoke of the prayer and Bible reading that mark his “everyday life:”
“Michelle and I have not only benefited from our prayer life, but I think the girls have too,” the president told Walters. “We say grace before we eat dinner every night. We take turns”…

Chaplain Goetz Remembered by Colleagues
An article at the LA Times documents an interview with Christy Goetz, wife of Chaplain (Capt) Dale Goetz — the first Chaplain killed in combat since Vietnam.
