Sexuality is Private, Except When Its Celebrated

“Your sexual orientation doesn’t relate to your job and it doesn’t relate to your successes in your career,” Bugenig said. “It’s your personal life.”
– Senior Airman Benjamin Bugenig, public affairs

SrA Bugenig was speaking in response to Beale Air Force Base conducting an LGBT Pride 5K Color Run to

recogniz[e] gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning servicemen and women. About 50 airmen participated in the event.

US troops participated in other very public “celebrations of personal lives” in Guam, Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Incirlik AB, Turkey, and the Navy Medicine Operational Training Center in Pensacola, FL, and, surprisingly enough, Singapore.

Some activists have demanded Christians in the military be restricted or silenced because of the “propaganda” it would create and because it would “enrage our Islamic extremist enemies” to know there were Christian troops.

That images of US troops publicly parading about in sexual displays would be more offensive to the sensibilities of Islamic extremists is apparently lost on those critics.
