Veterans Day 2016
Some may have forgotten that Veterans’ Day actually began as Armistice Day, commemorating the end of the Great War on 11 November 1918. Through the years it developed a meaning for all veterans, though it continues to recall the cost of The Great War.
Right now thousands of US troops are stationed around the world in support of the nation’s mission. Many more have returned home from war affected physically or mentally as a result.
They have gone because their country bid them to go.
Regardless of how you feel about politics or even the wars in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, or elsewhere, thank a veteran for the sacrifices they’ve made. Whether you appreciate it or not, they make those sacrifices for you.

The men and women who serve in the Armed Forces of the United States are my heroes.
Most Millennials like myself look up to Taylor Swift, Rhianna, the Manning Bros., Chuck Norris, Beyoncé Knowles, and Derek Jeter.
But I look up to people like Adm. Mike Mullen, the late Chris Kyle and Michael Murphy, Marcus Luttrell, SSgt Mike Eversmann, and Gen. Herbert McMaster.

In his defense, Chuck Norris was Airman Carlos Ray Norris in 1958. He developed an interest in martial arts and picked up the nickname “Chuck” while stationed in Korea as an “air policeman,” now Air Force Security Forces. He’s also a very honorable man.
