USAFA NCLS: Transgenders, Medals of Honor, and Chick-fil-A
The US Air Force Academy National Character and Leadership Symposium has become an annual Who’s Who of military and national celebrities — and rarely does it shy away from controversy.
Last week, attendees were able to hear from, among others:
- Aaron Belkin, homosexual advocate, speak on repealing the transgender ban
- Chaplain (MajGen) Dondi Costin, Air Force Chief of Chaplains, on “Go Pro or Go Home”
- US Army SSgt Salvatore Giunta, Medal of Honor Recipient, on “Teamwork, Leadership, Service & Patriotism” (who made the news)
- Captain Ryan McGuire, a C-17 pilot who lost his leg before completing training, on “Resiliency Through Adversity: One-legged Flight”
- USAF SSgt Spencer Stone, who received a Purple Heart for wounds received on a French train in August 2015 (Stone cited “divine intervention” in the encounter)
- Ms. Dee Ann Turner, Vice President of Chick-fil-A, on “Creating a Compelling Culture Among Those You Lead”
Quite the ideological spectrum.
