USAFA Aircraft Crashes into Hangar

The US Air Force Academy reported that one of its T-53 Kadet 2s was involved in an incident on Monday:

A T-53 Kadet 2 (Cirrus SR 20) aircraft was damaged when it crashed into a hangar upon landing at the Air Force Academy Airfield Oct. 1 at about 5:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.

Neither of the two crewmembers aboard suffered apparent injuries.

The T-53s were purchased for use as a primary flight trainer to replace the DA-40s.  (DA-20s are used for flight screening, and other aircraft grace the field as well.)  The T-53s are a little more than a year old.

As with other USAF aircraft mishaps, this will be investigated and the Air Force will report on it at a future date.
