Consistent with the recommendation in January, the Coast Guard has dropped charges against Lt Lance Leone, the co-pilot and sole survivor of a Washington helicopter crash in July 2010.

Leone was charged with negligent homicide, dereliction of duty and destruction of government property stemming from the crash, which killed pilot Sean Krueger…crewmen Brett Banks…and Adam C. Hoke.

The article notes Leone’s family was shocked he would be charged — as were some of the families of those killed in the crash.

Leone is reportedly attempting to regain his flight status and continue with his career.
