Fort Carson to Open “Resiliency Center”
Continuing the US Army’s focus on Comprehensive Soldier Fitness, Fort Carson is closing one of its gyms to “transform” it into the “Forrest Resiliency Center.” The center will be
the cornerstone of a Mountain Post Resiliency Campus that includes a super gym, a behavioral health facility and a child development center.
While the news release focuses largely on the “super gym” and health issues associated with deploying, the Resiliency Campus will include “spiritual” support as well.
The Forrest Resiliency Center will also offer stress management and relaxation services. These classes and programs are core to the resiliency “mind” initiative to use inclusive and synergistic strategies to develop resiliency. Additionally, chaplains will be in the Forrest Resiliency Center for counseling and mediation. Resiliency “spirit” support completes the comprehensive approach to this initiative.
The center is scheduled to open in April.
I have witnessed the “Spiritual Fitness” programs instituted at several military bases. They turned out to be basic Christian conversion programs. To many Dominionist Christians in the Armed Forces Christianity is synonymous with “Spiritual Fitness.” Simply put, to be spiritually fit one must be Christian.
I see little difference between the new “Resiliency Center” at Fort Carson and the other Christian operated facilities at other bases. But I can see how getting stressed personnel in the center, relaxing and subject to “mind initiatives” and “Spirit Support,” provides a great set-up for proselytizing and conversion undertaken by the Chaplains, to counsel and assist in “meditation.” Sure.
