Airman Charged with Crime even Fort Hood Shooter Avoided

Airman Charles Wilson of Robins Air Force Base is finally facing his court-martial for allegedly killing his fiancée and their unborn child.

Charles Amos Wilson III, 29, a support member of the 461st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, is charged with the premeditated murder in the fatal shooting of Tameda Ferguson, 30, at her Dawson home in August 2013. Ferguson was 8-1/2 months pregnant.

Wilson was arrested two days later on charges of murder and feticide after an investigation by the GBI and Terrell County Sheriff’s Office.

This is the third of three court-martials Wilson is facing for a group of alleged crimes. His prior two trials have had a mix of results.

Army Deserter, ISIS Supporter Pleads Guilty

Daniel Seth Franey is reportedly an Army deserter and supporter of Islamic extremism. He was charged in February for weapons violations after concerned members of the public reported his ideological statements and intimations about killing American soldiers. He’s now pled guilty to those weapons charges and faces 10 years in prison.

While most news reports don’t mention his religion, he apparently went by the name Abu Dawuud and called members of a local mosque “brothers.”

National Guard Soldier Quits, Tries to Help ISIS

Mohamed Jalloh quit the Army National Guard after listening to lectures by Anwar al-Awlaki — and then plotted a “Fort Hood-style” attack against his former comrades:

Cotton Puryear, a spokesman for the Virginia Army National Guard, said Jalloh served as a specialist from 2009 until 2015, when he was honorably discharged…

Former Muslim US Airman Convicted on Terrorism Charges

A former US Air Force Airman — and apparently a member of the Honor Guard — flew to Turkey in an attempt to join ISIS in 2015.  Tairod Nathan Webster Pugh was arrested upon his return to the United States and was convicted last week on terrorism-related charges.

Attempted Terrorist Attack in Kansas Goes Little Noticed

In April 2015, John Booker attempted to detonate what he believed was a 1,000 pound bomb outside the fence of Fort Riley, Kansas. It turns out the fake bomb had been coordinated with the FBI:

Somali Muslim Arrested for Terror Plot in Ohio

Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud, a naturalized US citizen from Somalia, was recently arraigned on charges he wanted to kill US Soldiers on American soil. [Update 2018: Mohamud was sentenced to 22 years.]

Atheists Misrepresent Military Religious Data. Again.

In what has become standard practice for atheists trying to inflate their numbers, the Freedom From Religion Foundation ran an ad in USA Today’s Year in Defense claiming nearly a quarter of the US military is “not religious” [emphasis added]:

As previously noted, atheists who take pride in their “skepticism” and reliance upon demonstrable data over mere belief have been very quick to express their belief in the report from the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers that initiated the 23.4% number — despite the fact the data does not support the conclusion.
