Prowler Crash Caused by Pilot Error

The crash a year ago of a US Navy EA-6B Prowler was caused by pilot error according to a recent report. In essence, the Navy determined

the crew was technically qualified, but together their “combined proficiency left them little margin for error” in a challenging low-altitude flight.

The investigation determined there were no mechanical issues with the aircraft.

  • Sad … preventable. My heart and prayers go out to all of those whose lives have been drastically impacted by these deaths. Hopefully, there will be some accountability held for those leaders in positions who negatively influenced this. These young aviators were put into a scenario/situation that resulted in their deaths. Good leadership would have prevented this from getting anywhere near where it ended up. Whether incompetency, inattention, or lack of backbone, the leadership MUST be held responsible.
