West Point Cadet Leaves over Criminal Christianity
Senior West Point Cadet Blake Page announced his resignation from the US Military Academy on the internet, calling his superior military officers “criminals.”
As reported on NBC:
“Countless officers here and throughout the military are guilty of blatantly violating the oaths they swore to defend the Constitution,” wrote Page…”These men and women are criminals, complicit in light of day defiance of the Uniform Code of Military Justice through unconstitutional proselytism, discrimination against the non-religious and establishing formal policies to reward, encourage and even at times require sectarian religious participation.”
Page has been noted here before, as he has previously publicly criticized the West Point religious environment.
By choosing to resign one semester before his graduation, Page incurs a commitment to repay his education. (Cadets can resign up until the conclusion of their sophomore year without penalty.) Most often, this means serving a few years as an enlisted Soldier — which Page was before he was given encouragement by officers to apply to West Point because he was a “high performer.”
Alternatively, some cadets who cannot serve (for example, those who are discharged for criminal reasons or conduct prejudicial to military service in general) incur a financial debt. It is unclear if those debts are actually repaid, as appeal processes could reduce or eliminate those payments.
As to Page’s complaints, they don’t appear to have changed. What has changed is his relationship with Michael Weinstein, who is now using (former?) Cadet Blake Page as a fundraising prop. It is also likely the melodramatic resignation may be an intentional gambit to set up another lawsuit to fit Weinstein’s agenda.
Chalk up another young military pawn to be used for Weinstein’s vendettas…
…at least until he is no longer useful to Weinstein’s end, at which point he’ll be dropped like all the rest.
