West Point Chapel Hosts Homosexual Ceremony
Multiple news outlets carried the Associated Press report on a homosexual ceremony conducted in the Cadet Chapel at the US Military Academy at West Point (though the Stars and Stripes probably wins for the most interesting comments).
Penelope Gnesin and Brenda Sue Fulton, a West Point graduate, exchanged vows in the regal church in an afternoon ceremony, attended by about 250 guests and conducted by a senior Army chaplain…
It was not the first such service at West Point, though the first in that particular building. Army 1st Lt Ellen Schick and Shannon Simpson were apparently the first homosexuals to be married at West Point a couple of weeks prior. It seems since they were young and unknown, their ceremony occurred without much publicity. (By contrast, Fulton is an outspoken homosexual advocate, a member of the SLDN-OutServe board, and President Obama appointed her to West Point’s advisory board in 2011.)
The two did have one issue: Finding a chaplain to officiate, since all at the Academy declined to perform the service. They ultimately found “a friend,” Episcopalian US Army Chaplain (Col) Wesley Smith, said to be the senior Army chaplain at Dover Air Force Base.

Are you sure Col Smith is an Episcopalian? His name doesn’t appear in the Church’s Clergy directory.

Chaplain J. Wesley Smith (initial was dropped above) is identified as Episcopalian in several places, and a name on that list may be his.
I’m not sure the report is correct, as the official roster of Episcopal military chaplains does not list any Col Smith. The J. Wesley Smith listed in the church directory is another fellow living in Tennessee. Perhaps another Episcopal Church — CEC, REC, CEEC, ?
