President Declares LGBT Pride Month with Biblical Language
President Obama declared June to be “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month,” which purportedly takes the opportunity for the US government to “celebrate” sexual attraction to one’s own gender. Unlike some other proclamations called upon by Congress, the LGBT Pride proclamation was done independently by Obama as it was under Clinton, the last president to make such declarations.
And because we must treat others the way we want to be treated, I personally believe in marriage equality for same-sex couples…More remains to be done to ensure every single American is treated equally, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Moving forward, my Administration will continue its work to advance the rights of LGBT Americans.
Bob Stith, of the Southern Baptist’s Task Force on Ministry to Homosexuals, said the Presidential proclamation continued a recent socially accepted theme: opposition to homosexuality is bigotry.
The fact that Obama is framing the legalization of gay marriage as one of ridding the country of prejudice does not bode well for traditional Christians, Stith said.
“The words the president uses in his drive to normalize homosexuality clearly portray any who disagree with him as prejudiced bigots. Those who agree are loving and brave,” Stith said. “The danger here is that those who dare to seek to protect the definition of marriage which has stood unchallenged for thousands of years are themselves the victims of prejudice and hate. Unfortunately, this proclamation shows no interest in preventing this kind of bigotry. Rather it is another example that if something is repeated often enough it will be accepted as truth even if the evidence doesn’t support it.”
It’s interesting when you consider that homosexuals make up around 2-3% of the population, while those who oppose homosexual marriage are around 50%, depending on what poll you look at. In essence, Stith says the proclamation paints half of America as bigots to appease advocates of the sexual behavior of a substantial minority.
Regardless, Stith’s observation is ominous: the President of the United States is making advocates of the traditional definition of marriage, who are largely religious groups, out to be adversaries to be fought. Of course, that’s a contention many religious freedom critics and homosexual advocates have already made.
As soon as Fred Phelps is arrested and put in jail, THEN you can start worrying about how horrifically persecuted you will be. Until then, you are just like the racists who refuse to allow mixed race marriages in their churches. The rest of us just shake our heads sadly at you, pity you, sometimes even mock you.. but you are free to have your silly little beliefs as much as you like.
Its also interesting to see how much you have your panties in a bunch over being called bigots when it actually never happened. You are SO desperate to be persecuted that you have to lie or imagine that it is happening.

As noted above, it is the current social narrative to paint advocates of marriage and morality as “bigots,” and it has even happened in comments on this site.
Morality was once considered the foundation of a successful society, which is why the US government is involved in supporting a moral society. That a portion of the population considers certain sexual behavior acceptable does not mean that it should be proactively advocated by the government as laudable.
And yet still Obama didn’t call you bigots, and still you whined about being called bigots. Its pathetic.. it really is.
JD, if you didn’t use phrases like “deviant behavior” or imply that gay relationships – even life-time, monogamous ones – have no place in a “moral society”, then maybe you wouldn’t be seen as a bigot.
It must be remembered that JD uses these phrases because they are standard response text from our Christian Dominionist friends.
Reliable science has told us that Homosexuality is as common and natural as Heterosexuality. This is difficult for fundamental Christians to understand as it directly contradicts doctrine. So, as in so many other cases of archaic Christian law, the case against homosexuals is basically discrimination much as it was against blacks before Christians were forced by common sense and law to recognize blacks as human beings.
The influence of Christian doctrines are on a slow but certain demise. As we enter the 21st Century the ludicrous cautions of Christianity pale in the shining light of scientific truth.

The implication that opposition to homosexuality is, by definition, “bigoted” is an irrational intolerance of another person’s opinion. May want to look up that definition again.

I didn’t say that “opposition to homosexuality” was bigoted. I said that going out of your way to name-call with phrases like “deviant behavior” or to exclude homosexuals from “moral society” entirely is bigoted. It’s not an “implication” – it’s an observation based on your actual writing.

Wow! Talk about being in denial! Fact: Opposition to color, race, national origin for no other reason than color, race or national origin is discrimination. Fact: Opposition to Homosexuality for religious or other purpose, in the face of scientific study that confirms homosexuality to be a normal state, is discrimination.
Christianity is a hot bed of dicrimination and bigotry based primarily on archaic religious doctrine. In addition many use Christianity as the reason for their bigotry to cover their personal views. True Christianity, if any still exists, is mired in the muck of religious mediocrity. No longer a force for good, Christianity stands as a body of judgmental bigots who make it a practice to belittle others whom they consider to be inferior.
It seems none of the basic tenets put forward by Jesus Christ remain in Christianity. Only racial, sexual and religious discrimination.

That’s the position I take. I can’t speak for Weinstein and MRFF but a rather large and growing majority of Americans also want to know more about this wave of Christian bigotry.
A wave of Christian hegemony is sweeping the armed forces like wild fire. Dominion Christian operatives have infiltrated our training bases and service academies, even war zones.

You need to keep up. That video was already discussed here. Weinstein is making a big push to get a lot of “views” on YouTube, which probably explains why you’re pushing it here and other places.
I never said you weren’t free to use bigoted language. I just said that you shouldn’t be surprised when people point out that it is in fact bigoted.

How frightened you must be that this video will be seen and understood by many thinking Americans. But, no worries there are many other sites that will spread this video and give our unsuspecting Americans the scare of their lives.
Already many have responded to this with comments of disgust and amazement.

Mikey loves to see religious services in the military. He prefers, however, too see services representative of all faiths to which armed forces members subscribe. The video simply reinforces the effort to make and keep the Dominionist’s twisted brand of Christianity the official religion of the armed forces, to the exclusion of all others.
The video is proof positive of the Dominionist agenda and coercive Christian proselytizing taking place this very moment at military facilities world wide. This is a direct violation of Constitutional provision and should be stopped immediately by any legal means necessary and those participants arrested and tried.

I’m sure these studies and findings are not too popular with our Dominion Christian friends who, in their stated goals for the US, say that Gay folks, among others such as heretics, sassy kids, blasphemers, etc should and would be summarily executed under a Christian government.
