Air Force Researched for New Disney Movie?

Last November Edwards Air Force Base hosted animators from Disney studios.  The animators were on a research expedition involving aircraft.

When Cars 2 came out, it led with a trailer for the new 2013 Disney movie Planes.

Think the visit to Edwards was related?

The Planes trailer makes references to “40,000 pounds of thrust” and “low observable stealth technology,” both of which are probably common vocabulary now.  But it also makes a reference to an “auto ground collision avoidance system,” an obscure and non-stereotypical reference that, interestingly enough, was researched by NASA-Dryden at Edwards AFB, and completed just prior to the animators’ visit.

Interestingly, the feature is a Disney/DisneyToon Studio production (Pixar is nowhere mentioned) and is going straight to video.
