As noted at the ChristianPost, an organization called Faith Comes By Hearing and Campus Crusade for Christ’s Military Ministry have joined forces to make an innovative tool available for Christians in the military: a “military BibleStick.”  The device is a small mp3 player that comes pre-loaded with an “audio drama New Testament.”

As with Bibles and other religious material provided by private organizations to contacts within the military, the mp3 Bibles will be made available to servicemen and women who desire them through military Chaplains:

Military Ministry chaplains will distribute these rugged, dedicated players to troops in chapel services, counseling sessions, Bible studies, pre-deployment briefings and regular services both stateside and overseas.

While military regulations regarding the use of mp3 players vary by service and location, the BibleStick would be as permissible as any other allowable portable audio device.  It has reportedly been designed to be simple, discrete, and low-visibility.

Reportedly, the device is widely appreciated, and the pace of demand has outstripped availability–with 12,000 requests for the players waiting to be filled.

Donations to help send the players to troops ($25 per device) can be made through the Faith Comes by Hearing website.  Chaplains can also request the players through an online form.
