Thunderbird Pilot Dies in Crash in Nevada
“A U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds pilot was killed when his F-16 Fighting Falcon crashed over the Nevada Test and Training Range today at approximately 10:30 a.m. during a routine aerial demonstration training flight,” the Wednesday statement said.
The pilot was not yet identified. The crash is one of several over the past few days that have also claimed two Marine Corps aircraft, a CH-53E and an AV-8B Harrier in Djibouti. The crew of the helicopter also perished.
Aviation — and particularly military aviation — remains a dangerous career.
