Russell Amendment Removed from NDAA

The Russell Amendment to the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act was removed in the congressional conference committee.  The conference version of the bill has since been passed by the House.

A few LGBT activist organizations celebrated this as a “victory” — though Republicans in Congress essentially said they could avoid the entire controversy since President Trump can achieve the same end with just his pen next month.
