Michael Weinstein is a Fan, Predicts Christian Coup

A few hours after ChristianFighterPilot.com noted the publication of AFI 1-1 (an event that occurred the week prior), Michael Weinstein published his own review of the AFI on his “progressive” Alternet-hosted blog.  This wouldn’t be the first time Weinstein and his crew demonstrated a propensity to glean from this site — though once before they at least took the time to backdate their own publication so it looked like they’d found it on their own.

Weinstein’s new missive is little more than a continuation of his prior screed, decrying the service of General Schwartz and, as predicted, taking the first step in trying to ingratiate himself to the new Air Force Chief of Staff:

We have no alternative left but to look to the new USAF Chief of Staff, Gen. Mark A. Welsh III, to show the all-too-rare backbone once required of all top leaders within the U.S. Military…

A little flattery never hurt anyone, but coming so predictably from Weinstein, it reeks of, well, first-class brown-nosing.

The speed with which Weinstein produced the piece might be indicated by the fact his handlers failed to filter out his stark return to the original conspiracy theory that started it all:

The fundamentalist Christian “American Taliban’s” domineering influence hangs like the ominous Sword of Damocles over the Joint Chiefs’ table…

The [Air Force must] punish the legions of fundamentalist religious predators [in] its own ranks. [Otherwise] AFI 1-1 will be about as useful as a “football bat” in preventing an evangelical Fundamentalist coup d’etat within the U.S. Air Force.

Now there’s the familiar chant of Michael Weinstein, who has declared that Christians in America are trying to create a second holocaust — something he said was the “transition of Plan A to Plan B,” which he says isn’t hypothetical: it is already happening in the US today.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is the true voice of Mr. Michael Weinstein, self-paid founder of his own personal charity, which he uses to fund his fight against this ongoing “evangelical coup.”  If you think 9/11 was an inside job, there are aliens in Area 51, and the moon landing was filmed in Hollywood, Weinstein has your newest fear:

The Christians are coming — and with your help, Michael Weinstein can stop them.

  • Actually, JD, I just checked my email, and see that Mikey emailed AFI 1-1 to me on August 13 to make sure I had seen it. You writing about it before he did was probably just because your job obviously allows you to have limitless time to write blog posts, while Mikey is quite busy giving you things to write an endless stream of blog posts about. Seriously, though, you really do write an awful lot of blog posts about a man who you’ve described as “irrelevant.” It’s kind of weird, don’t you think?

  • And when did we ever backdate something? You really need to be more specific when throwing out your bizarre assertions. I don’t even think that either Mikey or I write anywhere where it’s even possible to backdate something. If you’re going to accuse someone from MRFF of swiping something from your “conservative” blog on your own personal self-founded “ministry” website, you could at least let everybody what it was, rather than demonstrating your propensity to try to appear to be far more important than you really are.

  • @Chris Rodda

when did we ever backdate something?

    24 July 2012.
No one accused anyone of “swiping” anything. It is simply evident Weinstein is a fan of this site, and uses it as a valuable resource. Odd for someone who criticized this as a “tiny blog” with only 3 readers.

  • OK … even with the date, I still have no idea what you are referring to.

And I wouldn’t exactly call Mikey a “fan” of your site. Someone who looks at your site because you constantly write things about him that are potentially libelous isn’t looking at your site because he’s a “fan.”
