Poway Classroom “God Banners” Denied Cert
The Supreme Court has declined to review the case of teacher Brad Johnson’s “God Banners.” Johnson’s classroom was adorned with patriotic banners that noted the references to God in the Nation’s important documents.
The school district demanded he remove them, claiming they were offensive, despite the presence of similarly themed banners in other teachers’ rooms. The district court ruled in his favor; the 9th Circuit overturned that ruling.
The Supreme Court’s decision lets stand the ruling that Johnson’s banners were unconstitutional.
