Retired Chaplain Says “G-O-D is Bigger than D-O-D”

Chaplain (Col) Ron Crews (US Army, Retired) is heading up the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty,

a group that wants to protect evangelical chaplains from the dangers created by the government’s decision to force open homosexual behavior on the armed forces.

He recently noted that some Chaplain endorsers have indicated they will not only endorse homosexual Chaplains, but they already have homosexual Chaplains who will “come out” in September.

While Crews is vocally defending the religious liberty of Chaplains, he is encouraging Chaplains to “stay the course:”

“I remind our chaplains that — number one — promotions come from God; and secondly, that G-O-D is bigger than D-O-D and that God can do what he wants with a chaplain who is fully committed and dedicated to him,” Crews shares. “And … we’re not there for the promotions; we’re there to serve.”

  • Typical Christian Dominionst hype. How can we have officers in today’s high tech military who still believe Homosexuality is a sin? It would seem that the wages of religious ignorance is Brain Lock.

The American Medical Assn, American Psychiatric Assn and Ameriocan Psychological Assn all agree that Homosexuality is a normal state just like heterosexuality. Blatant religious discrimination against Gay and Lesbian Americans has no place in the military or anywhere else.

Our evangelical military chaplains had better come into the 21st Century, abide by scientific proof and discard the superstitions, archaic doctrines and dangerous professions of the fundamentalist Dominion Christian.

Today’s Dominion Christianity differs little from the Christian sycophnats who started the Crusades, Inquisitions and genocides which have marked the Christian religion throughout history.

Time to cast out those who would keep arcane doctrines in the militray and subjest our young men and women to the rigors of coercive Dominion Christian proselytizing.

That’s pretty extreme even for you. You’ve gone plaid, Rick.

  • The chaplain believes that God is bigger than DOD? Really, who paid him all those years as a military chaplain? It sure wasn’t any deity but the DOD, which is funded by taxpayers who many times don’t share his religious views. I am amazed at those who wish to be military chaplains and than dictate to the military policy on our fighting force. What chaplains in the military who oppose gay rights, were drafted by the military? None, they chose to be chaplains. Gay men and women who are qualified and eager to fight for our nation shouldn’t be kicked out (costing us hundreds of millions) because some chaplain doens’t like it. Frankly our nation much more requires flighter pilots and linquists than chaplains. I know that is politically incorrect to say, but it is true. Chaplains provide a service for members of the military who wish to have them.

There were chaplains who opposed the bans on blacks in the military. Should Truman have not intergrated the military because of those chaplains? Our military isn’t a theocracy. This is not the United States of Iran.

Do you not see the truth of my last post?

Institutionalized religious discrimination against a class of American Citizens for reasons of archaic Christian Doctrine is criminal. It was with people of color and is now with Gay and Lesbian citizens.

Our constitution is not based on religious belief but rather on secular pluralism. When you use religious doctrines, none of which can be verified in our court system, to denigrate a class of citizen and to cause them harm you must be subject to civil law.

Harassment of GLBT citizens, with intent to do them bodily harm, financial loss, loss of gainful employement or housing because of Christian bias is unlawful. It is even more heinous to intensify the discrimination of Homosexuals by exercising command centered Christian bias in the armed forces.

When I talk of Chaplains who must come into the twentieth Century would you not agree that those whose job it is to provide succor and comfort to our military men and women should be well versed in human relations to understand the obvious medical and psychological ramifications that obviate Homosexuality as an acquired or conditioned state? It took the church 500 years to admit the world was round. Let’s not wait another five hundred to stop persecuting Homosexuals in God’s name.

    And, what is “Plaid?”
