Join the Navy, See the World: Cricket

One of the oft-cited reasons for joining the US military is that it allows a person to see parts of the world they never would have otherwise.  They get to experience cultures and see sights few Americans do.  Such motivations have driven tours of Biblical lands by Soldiers deployed to the Middle East, trips to the Black Madonna in the Balkans, and even a paid hajj in the US Navy.

With all that culture in mind, Reuters recently published this

India’s Sachin Tendulkar became the first player to score 50 test centuries, reaching 107 not out on the fourth day of the first test against South Africa on Sunday…

Tendulkar batted for five hours to reach his 107, sharing a seventh-wicket stand of 172 with captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (90).

His century came in 258 minutes off 197 balls.

Does anyone actually know what that means?

Rumors say American football is as puzzling to outsiders as cricket is to the average American.
